The pilot episode for the series, "The Original" introduces us to the park operations, Dolores' miserable life loop in Westworld, and the big bad Man in Black who gets such a thrill out of tormenting her.
Since Season 3 is making the move out of the Westworld park, most of the pertinent information you're gonna need is packed into Season 2. What will she do once she’s out, and how will she navigate the real world? All is revealed in Westworld Season 3, which premieres on HBO on Sunday, March 15th. There’s also a heartbreaking end to Maeve’s Season 2 arc to find her daughter, the introduction of the “Valley Beyond” which is basically a cloud in which the hosts upload their brains to live on outside the park, and a humdinger of a credits scene in which William re-appears… somewhere.Īnd of course the final moments of the finale see Dolores getting out of Westworld for good, with at least five other host marbles hidden in her bag. This episode also sets up the Dolores/Bernard showdown that will play out in Season 3, as Dolores sets out to take on humanity and Bernard tries to stop her. Dolores takes this as an opportunity to read up on and study her enemy, which Ford intended to give her a fighting chance if she ever successfully made it out of the park. Dolores and Bernard enter The Forge and find an entire system that houses the experiences of every human guest who’s ever set foot in the park. Probably the most important episode of Westworld to watch before Season 3 begins is the Season 2 finale, which is packed with a ton of plot that sets up the story to come. Ford ( Sir Anthony Hopkins) would eventually sneak in The Valley Beyond. We also learn here that it was William's idea to create The Forge, aka the data banks where he stored all the information on the hosts, which is also where Dr. William isn't just the park's biggest fan, he's also one of its key architects, leading the decision to use Westworld as a means of intimate data collection on its powerful and wealthy clients. "Reunion" traces the origins of the park and unveils that it was Logan who first brought the investment to his father's attention, but it was William ( Jimmi Simpson) who convinced James Delos ( Peter Mullan) to invest. The in-park events of the episode aren't especially memorable but the scenes that take us out to the city standout and offer some essential insight into the history of Westworld, Dolores and the Man in Black ( Ed Harris). Season 3 promises to take the story out of the park and into the "real world", but Season 2 already let us glimpse the future in "Reunion".
